Description
Elegant original woodblock print of the kuchi-e (口絵) type, made in November 1913 by the artist Takeuchi Keishu (武内桂舟) and entitled “Shigure” (しぐれ), that is “The Rain in Late Autumn”.
The work depicts a beauty with a shamisen (三味線) lute while leafing through a book, probably a songbook, and is taken from vol. 19 n. 15 of Bungei Kurabu (文芸倶楽部), the famous literary magazine published from 1895 to 1933 by the Hakubunkan (博文館) publishing house.
The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging and slight wrinkles and fold marks, is in fair condition.
