Description
Rare original woodblock print of vertical intermediate aiban (合判) format, made around 1845 by the famous artist Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) and depicting, in the upper part, a view of Mount Fuji and, in the lower part, a river landscape.
The work is taken from an untitled series of harimaze (張交) prints showing more than one subject on one sheet and made in the ishizuri-e (石摺絵) style, a woodcut technique that mimics the realization of an image on paper by rubbing on a stone surface.
The precious print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the presence of some small holes, is in good condition.
