Description
Elegant original woodblock print of the kuchi-e (口絵) type entitled “Beauty Looking at Irises” (佳人看菖蒲) and made by the artist Mizuno Toshikata (水野年方) as the frontispiece of the novel “New Songs of Itako” (新潮来曲) by the novelist and journalist Emi Suiin (江見水蔭).
The work, printed in June 1897, is taken from vol. 3 n. 8 of Bungei Kurabu (文芸倶楽部), the famous literary magazine published from 1895 to 1933 by the Hakubunkan (博文館) publishing house.
The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging, is in very good general condition.
